The Club would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to The Saint Bernard Club Inc.An Inaugural Meeting was called on the 3rd December, 1976 and "The St. Bernard Club Inc" was formed. It became a Licensed Club from the 1st January, 1977 for the necessary six month period, after which Affiliation with the R.A.S. Kennel Control (now the Royal New South Wales Canine Council) was granted.
General Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every second month (commencing February)
From time to time The Club arrange lectures, films, etc. with the view of both entertaining and educating.
The Club also tries to support any occasion that arises to either promote our dogs or help new owners or interested people learn about our breed.
The Club is currently conducting a Point Score Competition to encourage members to show - one for puppies aged 6-18 months and one for all dogs 6 months and over. Trophies are given each year to the top winning dog and bitch in both the Puppy and General Point Scores together with their second and third place winners. Trophies are also given to each member upon their Saint gaining its Championship Title or Companion Dog Award - the owner must be a member for 6 months prior to gaining the award to qualify for these trophies.
Two championship shows are conducted by the Club each year (Easter and October) at which excellent trophies are on offer, whilst Grooming and Handling days are held regularly to help both `new' and `old' owners.
Social gatherings are organised frequently and advance notice is given so that our more distant members may make arrangements to attend. Different types of functions are held so that members may meet each other on a relaxed level.
Those who live some distance from Sydney or through other commitments cannot attend meetings can keep in touch with everything through our newsletter, the "S.O.S" (Songs of Saints), which is published every second month in the `odd month'. The Club endeavour to keep the S.O.S. interesting and informative and include educational articles, humorous articles, poems, Letters to the Editor, show results, point score tallies, advertisements, drawings, cartoons, snippets, plus anything else The Club can think of to keep your in the scene' with Saints. Contributions to our newsletter by members are keenly sought and in this way The Club keep in touch with what's happening interstate from our members in Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia, Netherlands, Germany and New Zealand.
We would like to conclude by saying that our idea in forming The St. Bernard Club was to join together with other Saint lovers to promote this great breed of ours - THE ULTIMATE DOG.
The Club has member status with the World Union of Saint Bernard Clubs
